Racing Victoria has signed a 10-year deal with Telstra which will deliver an end-to-end connectivity service for broadcast, media and data services.
The partnership with Telstra means from early 2016 Racing Victoria will have the capability to deliver multiple broadcast feeds from its 24 premier racetracks following the installation of the Telstra's new Digital Video Network.
"The Telstra Digital Video Network opens a world of possibilities in the future broadcasting of Victorian racing," RV chief executive Bernard Saundry said.
"The ability for fans to have the choice of multiple camera angles and for broadcasters to enhance live vision with data overlays ... can become a reality with this new technology."
Saundry said in a statement the deal was a significant development with a new broadcast media agreement close to being finalised.
NSW signed with the TAB-owned Sky Channel which heralded the demise of racing channel TVN, a joint venture between clubs in both states.
Victoria has been negotiating with Channel 7 which telecasts the major carnivals in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
While Victorian races are shown on Sky, pre and post-race interviews are available on racing.com.
