Sprinting mare Vain Queen retired to stud

Wednesday 27 May 2015, 2:21pm

Group-winning sprinter Vain Queen has been retired after her unplaced run in The Goodwood earlier this month.

Trainer John Sadler said Vain Queen would be sent to the Hunter Valley in NSW and would be mated with leading sire Sebring in the spring.

Vain Queen raced 16 times for seven wins, including a dominant Group Three victory in the GH Mumm Stakes during last year's Melbourne Cup carnival.

The mare notched a Group One placing when second to Lucky Hussler in the William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley in March.

"With a bit of luck she could have been a Group One winner," Sadler said.
