Trevor Miller has been around too long as a trainer to get overexcited about horses, but he is confident his two-year-old Real Good can be a star.
Real Good will be aiming to make it back-to-back black-type wins in The Phoenix (1350m) at Doomben on Saturday.
The son of Real Saga won the Bruce McLachlan Memorial Stakes (1200m) at the Sunshine Coast at his last start, his first since a summer break.
"He won first-up on his sheer ability," Miller said.
"I felt he may have been one run short in the McLachlan but Michael (Cahill) gave him a perfect run and he was too strong.
"The Sunshine Coast straight finds them out if they don't have a heart and he showed a big one to win last start.
"Saturday is a bit harder and he would have to go up to step to win. But provided he races well I think he can give them a shake in the JJ Atkins."
Cahill will test Real Good as his JJ Atkins mount and is a big fan of the horse.
"Since the time he first rode Real Good, Michael has been saying he will be a top horse. It is just a matter if this campaign will be it," Miller said.
Real Good's task could be made easier with the Chris Waller-trained Press Statement likely to run at Rosehill on Saturday in preference to the Phoenix.
