Brad Rawiller will appeal a suspension handed out at Ballarat in an attempt to keep the ride on Master Of Arts in the Queensland Derby.
Rawiller was outed for 12 meetings after finishing third in the opening race on Sunday in which Damien Oliver was forced to check Viceroy near the 150m mark.
Oliver fired in a protest against Rawiller which was upheld and Rawiller's mount Rockets Red Glare was relegated to fifth.
Rawiller said he would lodge his appeal on Monday morning.
He was stood down from his final ride on Lindendoom after twisting his left knee on the way to the barriers aboard Never Better in race six with the horse a late scratching.
"I'll go and get some physio on my knee," Rawiller said.
"It's a bit sore at the moment but I'm sure it will all right."
Master Of Arts is a $5 chance in the Queensland Derby at Doomben on Saturday with only Winx, a doubtful runner, and New Zealander Werther ahead of him.
The three-year-old was a last start-third behind Upham in the Grand Prix Stakes at Doomben on May 23.
Apprentice Jordan Grob was fined $750 for failing to ride his mount Belcrest Lady to the line with the mare fifth in the final event at Ballarat.
Stewards said his lack of action cost Belcrest Lady fourth place.
