Duke Of Brunswick wins at Moonee Valley

Saturday 6 June 2015, 4:09pm

The success of Prince Of Brooklyn at Swan Hill on Friday has rubbed off on his older sibling at Moonee Valley.

Prince Of Brooklyn is unbeaten after two starts after adding the Elvstroem Classic to his Group Three victory on debut in Adelaide.

His older brother Duke Of Brunswick ($6) registered his second victory when he outbobbed Raposo ($13) to claim the Dominant Cafetto Handicap on Saturday by a nose.

Duke Of Brunswick won a Wangaratta maiden last December but had six seconds to his credit before Saturday's victory, including a narrow defeat to Durendal at Caulfield on May 16.

"You can't begrudge him a win with six seconds to his name," trainer Mick Price said.

"He's probably still a 66 rater after that, so he's still got some nice options.

"He's a Super VOBIS horse so we'll probably just concentrate on these types of races with him."

While Price has no ambitious plans for Duke Of Brunswick he is looking at the Caulfield Guineas with Prince Of Brooklyn.

"He's a big, strong, clean-winded horse out of a Zabeel mare who will get 1600 (metres), it's just a matter of class," Price said.

"If the right two-year-olds train on he's probably not going to be competitive but I think you have to be optimistic and that's why we ran Jabali."

Price stayed in Melbourne rather than venturing to Doomben where Jabali broke his maiden status in claiming the Group Two Queensland Guineas.

"I didn't need to be there plus I had 75 horses to work at home this morning," he said.
