Careless Bowman suspended for six meetings

Saturday 6 June 2015, 5:21pm

Top jockey Hugh Bowman will be able to ride at the final Group One meeting of the season despite being suspended at Doomben on Saturday.

Bowman, who rode second-placed Flamingo Star, pleaded not guilty to carelessly causing interference to Lucky Lago at the 200m in the Wayne Wilson Mile.

He argued that while there had been some interference, his actions had not been careless because of the way the run for Lucky Lago had opened.

However, chief steward Alan Reardon said his panel could not agree with his argument and found him guilty.

Bowman was given a six-meeting suspension, starting on Monday night and finishing on Friday, June 19.

The Group One Tatt's Tiara meeting will he held on the Gold Coast on June 20.
