Craig Newitt makes a full-time return to Melbourne racing at Flemington on Wednesday, intent on quickly re-establishing himself in Victoria.
Newitt has been based in Singapore since the end of last year but decided not extend a short-term contract.
He has ridden at five Group One meetings in Australia this year on hit-and-run missions, including winning the Lightning Stakes on Lankan Rupee in February at Flemington.
Newitt has five rides at Wednesday's meeting, starting with the Jason Warren-trained Risque Business in the opening race.
"I just want to get as many winners as I can under my belt leading into the spring," he said.
Newitt rode 21 winners from 223 rides in Singapore.
He said he enjoyed the experience but decided with a young family he was better off financially returning to Melbourne.
"It was obviously a great learning curve," he said.
"I managed to ride a couple of Group winners while I was there which was handy and I found a nice horse (Super One) that might be coming down (to Melbourne) for the spring.
"It was definitely worth going and something that I don't regret."
