A careless riding suspension at Canterbury has cost Blake Shinn any chance of competing at the final Group One meeting of the season.

Having had his book of six mounts on Wednesday reduced to two by scratchings, Shinn appeared to make the most of his diminished opportunities with victory aboard the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Thud in the TAB Rewards Handicap.

However, it was soured in the stewards' room when he was outed for seven meetings for shifting out aboard the winner on the home turn.

"I have misread the play," Shinn said, admitting he did not realise Brenton Avdulla on Beaudragon had improved to the outside of his horse's heels.

Shinn, who is challenging for the Sydney jockeys' premiership, had been weighing up several offers to ride at the Tattersall's Tiara meeting at the Gold Coast on Saturday week.

But those decisions won't need to be made with his suspension to start after this weekend's Rosehill program and end on June 26.

The day was a smoother one for the Snowdens who sent three horses to Canterbury and came home with two winners and a quinella.

Eight scratchings from the Ranvet Handicap (1250m) cleared the way for fourth emergency Brigadoon Rose to post her first win in two starts.

The filly was beaten on debut at Gosford last month but responded to the addition of blinkers to score a win that earned her an immediate spell.

"She is quite immature so she will definitely go out after today," Paul Snowden said.

"Hopefully she can come back bigger and stronger and maybe get a little bit further."

Thud made it a race-to-race double for the stable, delivering on the promise she had shown the Snowdens at home to defeat barn mate Roaring To Win by two lengths.

"The three of them are all nice horses that were a bit immature last time. They've just taken a little bit of time," Snowden said.

"Even Roaring To Win, he wasn't suited by the conditions but he hit the line suggesting he might be looking for a bit further."
