Cranbourne trainer Dean Howard has been charged with selling the racehorse Convincible without the consent of all the owners.
Racing Victoria stewards charged Howard on Tuesday under a rule of racing dealing with dishonest, corrupt, fraudulent, improper or dishonourable action or practice in connection with racing.
The charge also alleges he falsely informed certain owners of Convincible of the final sale price and retained the surplus funds for his benefit.
A date for his hearing before the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board has yet to be fixed.
