Godolphin apprentice Brodie Loy has been ruled out of Saturday's Rosehill meeting because of injury.

Loy injured his hand and shoulder when his mount Copper became cast in the starting stalls at Canterbury on Wednesday.

"He has since undergone scans ... and on medical advice he has been stood down from riding engagements," deputy chief steward Greg Rudolph said.

New Zealand apprentice Rory Hutchings has emerged as the major beneficiary of Loy's misfortune.

Hutchings will ride Invitations, Sinjoren and Transfers for Godolphin while Koby Jennings will take over on Mohave.

Loy's injuries ended a difficult 24 hours for the apprentice after he was hit with a riding ban at Canterbury.

Loy returned to scale on King Kazou more than 1kg overweight after the Kevin Moses-trained sprinter finished fourth, a half neck behind the third-placed Poltava.

His suspension will start on July 4 and, providing he is passed fit, he will return to the saddle on July 11.
