The weather holds the key to trainer Tony Gollan's chances of having the Brisbane metropolitan trainers' premiership record in his grasp before he leaves on annual holidays.
Gollan and his wife Jane leave on Sunday and won't return until the last day of the racing season on Wednesday July 29.
He is currently on 74 city winners for the season, four off the Brisbane record of 78 held by the late Bruce McLachlan, who achieved the feat in the 1987/88 season..
Gollan has accepted with five horses at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday - Zuccherina (Montrose Handicap), Trakstar (Trevitt Handicap), Hi Son (Trevitt Handicap), Vienna Royale (White's 3YO Handicap) and Gracida (White's 3YO Handicap).
He said if the track remained heavy several of his horses would be scratched.
"The forecast is for fine weather so we will see how far the track gets back before making any decision," Gollan said.
"As for the record, it would be an honour to get it but I am not obsessed with it."
"We have 63 boxes for our horses which means we have won more than a race per box which is something to be proud of.
"It has been a team effort and the team will continue while we are away."
Gollan and Rob Heathcote, are both on 86 wins overall, 5-1/2 behind Mackay's John Manzelman in the state premiership.
Meanwhile, suspended Jim Byrne will miss Saturday's meeting but made sure he would win the jockeys' title with a double at Ipswich on Wednesday.
He is now on 66 winners, 15 clear of Tim Bell who is the only jockey capable of catching him.
Byrne with 102 1/2 wins is also well clear in the Queensland premiership.
