With no midweek metropolitan meeting in Victoria this week, the enthralling battle for this season's Melbourne jockeys' premiership will be renewed on finals day at Flemington.
Trainer John Sadler could play a role in the outcome of the jockeys' title with leading contender Craig Williams booked for three of Sadler's runners on Saturday.
Williams is set to continue his association with the Sadler-trained Bengal Cat and Lonrockstar in Listed races.
The two horses formed part of a winning treble at Flemington last Saturday week for Williams which took him to the premiership lead.
However, a careless riding suspension from that day ruled Williams out of two metropolitan meetings last week and he has since relinquished the lead to Dwayne Dunn who rode a winning double on Saturday at Caulfield.
One of Dunn's Caulfield wins came in the Group Three Sir John Monash Stakes on Miss Promiscuity, a mare Williams had been booked to ride before the suspension.
Dunn has not won a Melbourne premiership and is on 51 winners, one ahead of Williams and two ahead of Damien Oliver.
Sadler believes the Taj Rossi Series Final (1600m) will provide a good guide to whether two-year-old Bengal Cat can measure up in the spring with the VRC Oaks as a potential target later in the year.
"I thought she was pretty good last start and I'm hopeful of her maybe turning into something," Sadler said.
"Whether she is going to or not, we might get a good chance to see that on Saturday because it's going to be a nice little race."
