It was thrilling to see our 2 year old filly AURORA GLOW break her maiden status in such dominant fashion at Canterbury today. The daughter of ill fated sire Northern Meteor jumped well from her wide barrier and jockey Tye Angland settled her midfield, racing three wide. Rounding the home turn AURORA GLOW let down strongly to reel in the field and she displayed great tenacity to win by a length at the post.
It was an impressive win given the manner in which AURORA GLOW overhauled her rivals in the home straight and she certainly looks to have a bright future as she goes into her 3 year old year. The filly had only just passed the winning post when the phone rang...an eager Champion trainer ringing from England to congratulate the filly's owners in attendance. Chris is currently over in England to oversee Brazen Beau's final preparations ahead of his final career start in Saturday's July Cup at Newmarket.
Congratulations to the winning AURORA GLOW owners David McLeish, Maureen McLeish, Ray Aurisch, Don Dong, Gail Robertson, Regina Crane, Pop The Cork (Manager: Bronwyn Ryan), Bryan Fraser, Mervyn Wood, Margaret Wood, Chips Off The Old Block (Manager: Margot Quigley), Chrissie Crowley
