Jockeys premiership battles continue

Wednesday 15 July 2015, 8:48am

Dwayne Dunn remains favourite to win the Melbourne jockeys premiership despite trailing Craig Williams by one win heading to Moonee Valley.

In Sydney, James McDonald returns from an overseas stint to ride at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

With five metropolitan meetings left in both Melbourne and Sydney, Dunn is the TAB's $2.65 favourite to land his first premiership with McDonald at $2.30 to retain the Sydney title.

Williams is on 53 winners and chasing a fifth title with Damien Oliver on 51.

Williams, who relinquished his lead after being suspended at Flemington on June 27, regained the upper hand with a race-to-race treble at Flemington last Saturday while Dunn pegged one back with a winner at Warrnambool on Sunday.

Oliver kept his hopes of gaining a 10th title alive with a winning Flemington double on Saturday.

McDonald is on 88-1/2 with Shinn one win behind and Hugh Bowman on 86.
