A major milestone is the furthest thing from Darren Weir's mind as he prepares a large string of runners for the remaining meetings of the season.
Weir sits on 281 winners for 2014-15 and holds a commanding lead in the Australian trainers' premiership over Chris Waller and is seven ahead of Peter Moody in his defence of the Melbourne title.
Last weekend, Weir 10 winners over a three-day period including six winners on Sunday at Warracknabeal and Warrnambool. He has 31 runners accepted for meetings on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
While Weir said the 300 target was a long way from his thoughts he acknowledged this season had been a great one for the stable.
"It's been amazing really," Weir said.
"We've had a bit of everything and some big wins.
"Hopefully we can win a few more of the bigger races again next year."
Weir has made some personnel changes for the new season at his Warrnambool base with trainer Jarrod McLean taking over as foreman from Daniel Bowman who is branching out on his own.
"Daniel's having a crack on his own, so I had to get someone and Jarrod's a great replacement," Weir said.
"We've got 50 or so down there and Jarrod will be in charge while also having a few of his own in work as well."
Weir has nine runners heading to Flemington on Saturday with four in the Flemington Event Staff Handicap (1600m), including the three highest-rated - Count Of Limonade, At First Sight and Lord Of Brazil.
Count Of Limonade is having his first run for Weir having previously been prepared by Mick Price.
He hasn't raced since finishing 14th in the Lord Mayor's Cup at Rosehill in May.
"He's a new horse to the stable and he wants wet ground and a bit further," Weir said.
"He's been with us for about six weeks and poking around down at the beach and we're still learning about him."
