In Masquerade ready for Doomben 2000m

In Masquerade can vindicate her trainer's decision to miss the Grafton Cup with the mare when she lines up at Doomben.

Desleigh Forster opted not to take her south for the Listed race and instead runs her in Saturday's Mater Foundation Open (2200m).

The trainer has also recently turned her attention to matters off the track, taking a group of friends to western Queensland to promote drought support efforts.

They visited Longreach and Ilfracombe to promote the plight of drought-stricken farmers and graziers and attended a picnic race meeting at Ifracombe which is Forster's home region.

"They are doing it tough in the west and any help they can get is appreciated," Forster said.

Now back in Brisbane, Forster is trying to get another win from In Masquerade who is earmarked for stud by her owner Judy Wanless.

"They don't come better bred than In Masquerade. She is by top staying sire Pentire and her dam Cuphill was a very smart horse," Forster said.

"I missed the Grafton Cup with her because I thought some of the topweights were too close in the weights. It turned out to be the right decision because the winner, who was a topweight, ran a course record."

"She probably isn't all that well weighted on Saturday as well as she 1-1/2 kilograms over the limit. But it isn't a strong race and she has a few things in her favour."

"She is drawn to get a few favours and Robbie (jockey Fradd) knows exactly how to get her going and charge into the race."

Fradd rode In Masquerade when she won at Doomben three weeks ago when he brought the mare with a sweeping turn from the 600m.

Forster will also have Camora (Lambart Memorial) and Amizade (Three Year Old) running on Saturday.
