Darci Be Good's aversion to paddock life means trainer Andrew Williamson prefers to keep him in the stable with the gelding scheduled to have his 18th start for the season at the Sunshine Coast.
After Darci Be Good finished seventh behind Bonfire in the Grafton Cup (2300m) on July 9, Williamson did consider giving him a spell.
But instead the six-year-old will run in Saturday's Pryde Open (1800m) with Williamson believing his Grafton Cup run was better than it looked.
"They ran record time and he was only beaten a bit over two lengths. The 2300 metres is probably about as far as he wants to go," Williamson said.
"Also I noticed that he doesn't really do well when turned out in a paddock."
He said he had access to a yard where he could turn Darci Be Good out during the day and the horse seemed to appreciate it.
"He can spend time there and freshen up," Williamson said.
Darci Be Good won his first start this campaign and has held his form with stakes placings in the Ipswich Cup and Spear Chief Stakes.
"He has been very consistent all season and he still seems to want to race," Williamson said.
Darci Be Good's three wins and eight minor placings during 2014/15 have earned connections more than $150,000.
In-form apprentice Geoff Goold will ride Darci Be Good giving the topweight 2kg relief from his 59kg.
Goold, who has twice been beaten by narrow margins in stakes races lately, was back in the winners' list at Doomben on Wednesday with promising colt Tiburon.
Meanwhile, Feltre will make his open company debut in the $100,000 Anniversary Cup (1400m) provided the track isn't too wet.
Feltre has won his past three starts in impressive fashion in restricted class company.
Owner Bill Andrews said Feltre would run provided no more rain soaked the Sunshine Coast track.
Feltre has won four times at the Sunshine Coast and three of those victories have been over Saturday's distance.
