Boom filly My Girl Hayley lived up to her trial form and earned a possible Melbourne trip with her win at the Sunshine Coast on Wednesday.
Having her first start My Girl Hayley ($1.90) was sent out favourite on the strength of her two recent trial wins at Deagon.
She lived right up to those wraps when she overcame problems to easily beat the handy galloper Fine Fergus ($2.90) in the Wimmers Premium Three-Year-Old over 1000m.
Trainer Tony Gollan has a big opinion of My Girl Hayley and was pleased she delivered on her promise on race day.
"There is a big difference between trial and race days. So it was good she was able to come out and win well," Gollan said.
"There was plenty of speed in the race today but she was able to lead them."
My Girl Hayley is among nominations for the Group One Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on October 10.
"She was the only one we nominated so that shows what we think of her," he said.
Winning jockey Alannah Fancourt dropped her whip in the straight but it did not matter as the filly came away for a two-length win.
"She was green and they attacked her early but she was too strong," Fancourt said.
My Girl Hayley cost owner Troy Schmidt $44,000 at the Magic Millions Sales last year and he has been patient with her.
Schmidt's River Junction Racing syndicates have had considerable success with Gollan and their horses include Traveston Girl who was second in last year's Thousand Guineas.
Gollan said My Girl Hayley reminded him of Traveston Girl at the same stage of their careers.
