Le Val may have to head south

Brisbane sprinter Le Val may head to Sydney after racing himself out of handicaps in his home town.

Le Val made it two wins from two starts this campaign when he came from second last under 59kg to win a 1200m Class 6 at Doomben on Saturday.

Trainer Noel Doyle makes no secret of the fact Le Val is up to open company if not even better but he has been plagued with injury.

Doyle, who trained such top horses as Stylish Century, Kinjite and Don't Play, rates the injury-prone Le Val among the best he has trained.

"I get a bit emotional about this horse as he has been through so much," Doyle said.

"He has had a throat operation, a broken pelvis ... I could go on and on."

"But he has so much ability and I just like seeing him get through each race."

Doyle said the pressure was starting to mount to head to Sydney with Le Val.

"They get them up in the weights very quickly here. There would be some nice races for him down there," he said.

Doyle said the only worry with Le Val was his habit of being slow to leave the barriers.

"He has developed the habit since breaking his pelvis. I wonder if he is thinking it is going to hurt every time he jumps from the barriers,"he said.

Jockey Michael Cahill agreed Le Val was a top class galloper.

"Once he got into his rhythm he travelled beautifully and I think he would have run around 33 seconds for his final 600 metres," Cahill said.
