It was a long time between drinks but Rock Temple gave punters something to cheer about after posting his second win in the last race at Pakenham yesterday afternoon. The ever consistent 5yo Fastnet Rock gelding didn’t disappoint after being heavily backed in late to win the 1400m event.
Ridden an absolute treat by Michael Walker, Rock Temple controlled the race from the word go before giving a good kick in the straight to go on and win by ¾ of a length with 3rd place another 2 lengths away.
Rock Temple who races in the BlueBlood Thoroughbred’s Sydney colours (Blue with logo), is trained by the country’s leading trainer Chris Waller for a large syndicate of owners. He was sent down south to Victoria in search of drier ground with of course the synthetic tracks as a great back-up plan.
With all of the rain that Sydney received over the winter period, the move down south has proved to be the right decision and Rock Temple is building a nice record on the firmer surfaces.
BlueBlood’s success in Victoria is usually associated with their red silks and the name Mick Price or John Ledger next to the horse’s name, but it was the blue colours that prevailed on this occasion.
The win adds to an impressive list of winners already for Fastnet Rock so early in the new season. Fastnet Rock convincingly won the general sires list last season with over $10 million in prize money earnings and with winners nearly every day of the week, it’s not hard to see why he is the country’s leading stallion.
BlueBlood Thoroughbreds are offering shares in a Fastnet Rock filly trained by Mick Price. The filly is an outstanding type and is already showing early signs of a serious horse in the making. Visit our website www.bluebloodthoroughbreds.com.au for more information.
She will of course sport the famous red silks which are expected to again be prominent this spring with smart filly Secret Agenda making a promising return to training.
Congratulations to all the connections in Rock Temple for a great win.
