Blue Diamond Stakes runner-up Reemah has broken her maiden status with a first-up win at Geelong.
Reemah bounced straight to the front under Michael Walker in Friday's 1200m fillies and mares' maiden on the synthetic track, and the $1.26 favourite got the job done by 2-1/4 lengths to post her first win at her fifth race start.
"We decided to put her up out of trouble, but leading is not her go," trainer David Hayes told Racing Live.
"She was star gazing all the way down the straight. I didn't think she was overly impressive but I know if you ride her back a little bit she's got a great turn of foot.
"But we didn't see it today."
Reemah's two-year-old autumn campaign included a fast-finishing second to Pride Of Dubai in the $1 million Group One Blue Diamond Stakes before she finished among the tailenders in the $3.5 million Golden Slipper.
The Group One Thousand Guineas (1600m) is a spring aim.
Hayes will consider a fillies' black-type race or the Group Two Danehill Stakes for Reemah's next start.
"If we ride her a bit differently next start, you'll see a different filly," Hayes said.
