Connections of Charmed Harmony received some minor compensation with the gelding's win at Caulfield.
Charmed Harmony was an emergency acceptor in the Group One Memsie Stakes (1400m) on Saturday.
Instead, the gelding lined up in the Hockingstuart Handicap over the same distance and led throughout, recording his fourth-straight win.
Ridden by Dylan Dunn, Charmed Harmony, the $3.50 favourite, scored by 1-1/2 lengths from Jacquinot Bay ($41) with Awesome Rock ($8) a half length away third.
Suspended apprentice Tom Sadler, deputising for his trainer father John, said it was disappointing Charmed Harmony didn't get a start in the Memsie.
"We thought he was a good chance if he got a run in the Memsie but we'll take a Saturday winner any day of the week," he said.
Sadler rode Charmed Harmony to victory at Flemington on August 8 but is sidelined after testing positive to cocaine at Swan Hill last month while apprentice Katelyn Mallyon, who rode the gelding to his two previous victories, is out with an injured ankle.
Dunn recorded his second Saturday success aboard Charmed Harmony, but said the victory meant more as it was achieved on a Group One day.
"This is my first Group One day and hopefully some more opportunities can arise from this," he said.
