BART CUMMINGS DIED ON SUNDAY AGED 87, BUT LEAVES BEHIND A LEGACY AS ONE OF THE WORLD'S FINEST RACE HORSE TRAINERS IN A CAREER SPANNING MORE THAN 60 YEARS.

* 1958: Wins his maiden Group 1 race, the SAJC Derby with Stormy Passage
* 1965: Wins first of 12 Melbourne Cups with Light Fingers
* 1965/66: Wins first Training Premiership, saddling the winners of seven Group 1 cups across Australia
* 1973/74: Becomes The first trainer in the Commonwealth to pass $1 million prize money in a season
* 1974-75 Trains 10 different racehorses to win 20 Group 1 races
* 1975 Moves his operations to a new facility near Randwick Racecourse in Sydney, called Leilani Lodge.
* 1982, Honoured with the Order of Australia for his contribution and service to the racing industry
* 1989/90: Wins Sydney premiership he became the first trainer to have won premierships in three states - NSW, Victoria and South Australia.
* 1991: Saddles Let's Elope to victory for an eighth Melbourne Cup with Shiva's Revenge finishing second to give him a Cup one-two for the fifth time.
* 2007, Australia Post placed his image on a postage stamp as part of its Australian Legends series.
* 2008: Wins his 12th Melbourne Cup with Viewed.
* 2015: Passes away peacefully aged 87, surrounded by his family at his Sydney homestead after being in ill health for some time.
