Trainer Colin Little has called time on the spring campaign of Thousand Guineas favourite Jalan Jalan.
After her last-start second in the Group Three Quezette Stakes, Little sent the filly to the paddock for a week's rest while he and his other owners decided whether to continue on a Thousand Guineas path.
That decision has been made and she will now be saved for the autumn.
"We thought about it while she was having a week in the paddock and decided to leave her there," Little said.
The Cox Plate-winning trainer noted Jalan Jalan made a winning debut in May at Cranbourne and had raced three more times for another win and two placings.
He said while the three-year-old was a tough filly he felt it would be too much to press on to the Guineas in October as she would have to have two more starts before Group One race.
Jalan Jalan has raced four times for two wins and two placings.
"She was in work prior to winter, raced all through winter, and to get to the Thousand Guineas I'd have to give her another two," Little said.
"So that would be May, June, July, August, September, and October - it's too much."
After her debut, Jalan Jalan finished third to Green Card at her second start.
The daughter of Foreplay scored a three-length win over subsequent dual stakes winner Gold Symphony in a 1200m race down the straight at Flemington on July 18 before running home strongly for second to the smart Petit Filous in the Quezette Stakes.
Little's other nomination in the Thousand Guineas is Colerne but the trainer said she has also been ruled out with a slight tear in a tendon found after her debut win at Geelong.
Jalan Jalan holds the top line of Thousand Guineas betting at $6 with Champagne Stakes winner Pasadena Girl at $8 and unbeaten Alaskan Rose at $10.
Alaskan Rose made it two wins from as many starts with victory at Caulfield over 1400m on Saturday.
