Ready For Victory will by bypass the Golden Rose to stay in Melbourne for a race at Flemington on the same day.
Trainer Mick Price said it was the decision of the colt's owners, Eliza Park International, to have the three-year-old stay in Melbourne.
Price said the owners were coming to Melbourne for the day and wanted Ready For Victory to run at Flemington rather than go to Sydney for the Golden Rose on September 12.
He said staying in Melbourne to run in the Group Two Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington would not hinder the colt's main aim of next month's Caulfield Guineas.
"He'll have had two 1200 (metre) races then he can go to 1400 metres in the Guineas Prelude and then onto the Guineas at a mile two weeks later," Price said.
Ready For Victory scored a debut win at Flemington in March before throwing his Golden Slipper chances away two weeks later when he veered sideways and finished fourth.
The son of More Than Ready resumed with an unlucky second behind Gold Symphony in the HDF McNeil Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield last Saturday.
