Young Australian jockey Chad Schofield has made the perfect start to his Hong Kong venture with a winner on the first day of the new season.
Schofield steered the Tony Millard-trained Strathmore to victory over Jet Wings at Sha Tin on Sunday.
The 21-year-old is riding in Hong Kong on a six-month contract.
Champion jockey Joao Moreira began as he left off last season with a treble on the day with 13-time premier jockey Douglas Whyte also riding three winners.
Australian expatriate Brett Prebble was missing after being hurt in a fall at Saturday's barrier trials.
Prebble hopes to gain a clearance early this week which will enable him to ride the Gai Waterhouse-trained Speak Fondly in Saturday's $1 million Golden Rose in Sydney.
