Boban favourite for Group One repeat win

Tuesday 8 September 2015, 7:30am

Boban heads the betting to win his second Group One race of the new season.

The Chris Waller-trained gelding is a $4.40 chance to repeat his Memsie Stakes win when he lines up in Saturday's Makybe Diva Stakes at Flemington.

Victory in the Makybe Diva would give Boban his third Group One victory from his past four starts and his sixth win at the highest level.

He is one of 12 Group One winners among 22 horses nominated for the Maybe Diva.

The group includes Fawkner, Happy Trails, Mongolian Khan, Volkstok'n'barrell, Set Square and Gust Of Wind.

Fawkner, who hasn't raced since finishing 10th in last year's Melbourne Cup, is the $7 second favourite following a solid exhibition gallop at Caulfield on August 29.

Damien Oliver will take the right on the eight-year-old.

High Quality four-year-olds Alpine Eagle and Hi World are in danger of missing a start at numbers 18 and 19 in the ballot order, but also hold nominations in the Spring Is The Season Handicap (1700m) as a back-up.

The field limit for the Makybe Diva is 16 with four emergencies.

Final fields and barriers will be announced on Wednesday.
