French stayer among late Melb Cup entries

A French stayer owned by the Aga Khan is among four late entries for this year's Melbourne Cup.

The Jean-Claude Rouget-trained Loresho, a winner of five of his 11 starts, has been added to the Melbourne Cup entries along with imports Chance To Dance, Renew and Ruscello.

The connections of each of the four horses paid a $5500 late entry fee.

Chance To Dance is an import trained by Robert Hickmott for prominent owner Lloyd Williams and the six-year-old gelding won at Moonee Valley on Saturday, narrowly defeating stablemate The United States over 1600m in his second Australian start.

Archie Alexander trains last year's Sandown Cup winner Renew and also Ruscello.

Weights for the Melbourne Cup are released on September 15.
