The weather forecast presents the only possible fly in the ointment for Joe Pride as he prepares for the return of stable star Terravista at Randwick on Saturday.
At $2.40 for the Group Two Shorts, Terravista is the shortest-priced favourite on the George Main Stakes program but Pride says the sprinter won't run on a heavy track.
Randwick was rated good on Thursday but showers and storms are forecast for Sydney.
"We're in the hands of the weather gods at this stage. If we get a heavy track I'll take him out. I can't risk him," Pride said.
"It's the perfect assignment for him first-up. I'm very keen to run if we get conditions to suit.
"On class he will beat these horses, although he's got to get back to what we all know he can do."
Terravista was ranked the best sprinter in the world after he lowered the colours of Chautauqua, Lankan Rupee and Buffering to win the Darley Classic last spring.
He couldn't reignite that spark in Sydney and was beaten in three autumn runs.
Pride says the six-year-old's build up has been much sharper this campaign, including his recent barrier trial win over Saturday's rival That's A Good Idea when he was under a tight hold from Hugh Bowman.
"He didn't trial like that last time, he trialled really flat so I thought that was really encouraging," Pride said.
If Terravista doesn't run Saturday he will resume in the Premiere Stakes two weeks later.
Stablemate and little brother Ball Of Muscle will take his place in The Shorts bidding to rebound from a first-up defeat while Pride says the resuming Rock Sturdy will improve from the run.
