Mick Price has found another Caulfield Guineas prospect to join Ready For Victory with Tarzino to be aimed at the Group One race.
Price labelled Tarzino his Victoria Derby horse after his win over 1600 metres at Caulfield on Saturday and has decided to take in the Guineas en route to the Classic at the end of next month.
Another stablemate Prince Of Brooklyn was to have chased the Caulfield Guineas with Ready For victory but that three-year-old has been sent for a break.
Tarzino has been Derby-bound all preparation and came off a Ballarat maiden victory to win at Caulfield.
Price had originally considered the UCI Stakes at Flemington on October 4 and the Caulfield Classic on October 17 as Tarzino's lead-up races to the Derby.
"There's a bit of a push from the owners for the Caulfield Guineas which puts you on a different path to the Derby," Price said.
"He can go Caulfield Guineas, Vase (at Moonee Valley) and the Derby.
"This year the Caulfield Classic is taking a lot of those Derby horses, so you've got to go one way or another, you can't do both."
Price said he would study the line-up of the Caulfield Guineas Prelude on Saturday to see whether Tarzino would be guaranteed a Guineas start.
Ready For Victory will be ridden by Damien Oliver in the Guineas Prelude (1400m).
The colt is the $3.80 favourite for the Caulfield Guineas and is one of 27 horses nominated for Saturday's Group Three Prelude.
"He's in excellent order," Price said.
"He's ready for the step up in distance after two runs from a spell."
