Controversial jockey Danny Nikolic has failed in a bid to resurrect his riding career in Queensland.

Banned by police last week from entering Victorian racetracks, Nikolic hoped he could resume riding in Queensland once he completes a Racing Victoria suspension.

But Racing Queensland has rejected Nikolic's application for a licence to ride in races.

"Mr Nikolic has been informed of the decision and his rights of appeal," a Racing Queensland statement said on Tuesday.

"Racing Queensland will be making no further comment on the matter."

Nikolic has been serving a ban from racing for allegedly threatening Racing Victoria chief steward Terry Bailey at a race meeting in September 20, 2012.

He received a further time for offensive conduct towards another steward during a Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal hearing.

The 40-year-old's ban is due to end at midnight, September 30.

One of Australia's best jockeys at his peak, Nikolic's big-race wins include the Caulfield Cup and the VRC Oaks.
