The Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes provided a career highlight for Damian Lane a year ago and the young jockey is optimistic about his chances of going back-to-back in the Group One race.

Lane notched the first Group One win of his career on Trust In A Gust when he denied Dissident in a photo finish and then survived a protest.

He teams up with talented mare Gregers at Caulfield on Saturday, confident the five-year-old can give the race as shake as the jockey chases his second Group One win.

"It (the Rupert Clarke Stakes) has given me my biggest success so far and hopefully I can do it again this year," Lane said.

"I galloped her yesterday morning and the horse is in great order. I wouldn't swap her for anything."

Gregers has won over the course and distance in the Group Two Thousand Guineas Prelude for three-year-old fillies two years ago.

After being unplaced in the Carlyon Stakes first-up, Gregers was narrowly denied when third to stablemate Churchill Dancer in the Group Two Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m) second-up at Flemington.

"She was really good at Flemington and I think third-up at 1400 metres is going to really suit her," Lane said.

"Hopefully she draws low and she'll be on speed. Down on 53 kilos, I think she's going to take a lot of catching."

Disposition is favourite in early betting at $3.60 ahead of Stratum Star and Under The Louvre ($6.50).

Under The Louvre flashed home for second in the Bobbie Lewis, just ahead of Gregers who is at $26.

Lane is also booked to ride Dibayani for David Hayes and Tom Dabernig in the Group One Underwood Stakes (1800m) and believes the former Hong Kong galloper is capable of winning a good race during the spring.

Dibayani has finished third in the PB Lawrence Stakes and Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes this campaign.

"His run was good at Moonee Valley last start and I think it will suit him back at Caulfield on a bit bigger track," Lane said.

"It's getting closer to his right trip now. I think he's going to run really well."

The Hayes and Dabernig-trained Rising Romance is nominated for the Underwood but stable representative Gary Fennessy said it was likely the mare would be saved for the Turnbull Stakes on Sunday week.
