The Seven Network will continue to broadcast the Melbourne Cup carnival for the next five years, the Victoria Racing Club announced on Monday.
The deal, which extends a longstanding relationship with the broadcaster, will ensure the spring racing carnival will have free-to-air coverage in Australia until at least 2018.
It will also encompass the VRC's premier autumn meeting on March 9.
Featuring the Australian Cup and the Newmarket Handicap, free-to-air coverage of "Super Saturday" will be extended until least 2019.
The announcement coincides with a separate Seven Network deal with the racing industry-owned broadcaster TVN, ensuring additional free-to-air racing coverage will include the Golden Slipper, Australian Derby, Doncaster Mile and Sydney Cup meetings.
"Racing's fans and participants will all benefit from the landmark new broadcasting arrangements, which will provide vastly improved free-to-air exposure for the thoroughbred racing industry," VRC chairman Michael Burn said.
"The VRC is delighted that the outstanding relationship we enjoy with the Seven Network will continue for a further five years at least.
"No fewer than nine Flemington racedays will now enjoy free to air coverage on the Seven Network, which has enhanced its position as Australia's premier free to air racing broadcaster."
