Under The Louvre favourite for G3 Moonga

Friday 16 October 2015, 5:49pm

Jockey Mark Zahra is counting Under The Louvre's turn of foot to help the horse overcome the outside barrier in the Moonga Stakes.

Under The Louvre, second in the 1400m-Group Three race last year to subsequent dual Group One winner Lucky Hussler, is favourite to go one better on Saturday at Caulfield but has to overcome gate 12.

"The barrier hasn't really helped him but he's got the class," Zahra said.

"Hopefully they are running on and I'll find a spot for him with a bit of cover and he's got that electric turn of foot."

Under The Louvre is yet to win this spring but has only been narrowly beaten in his past two outings including a close third in the Group One Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.

"I got a head in front of them and then he wanted to get in a little bit," Zahra said.

"But they were two very good horses inside him - Stratum Star and Disposition - and that form is good."

Disposition and Stratum Star finished second and third respectively to Lucky Hussler in last Saturday's Toorak Handicap.
