The promising Privlaka starred at a recent set of barrier trials but trainer Robert Heathcote believes he still has a way to go before reaching his top.
Privlaka resumes against a good field of three-year-olds in the #Bronxnation Hcp (1050m) at Doomben on Saturday.
Heathcote said the standard of Brisbane three-year-old races so far this had been strong and Saturday was no different.
It will be Privlaka's first run since his second to Dram Of Red at Doomben in July but he showed the benefits of a break at the Deagon trials on October 20.
Privlaka ran 45.85s to win his 800m trial which was the fastest of the morning and better than the 46.02s run by noted speedster Adebisi.
Heathcote expects Privlaka to be competitive on Saturday but also thinks the gelding will improve from the run.
"The reason for the long time between the trial and this race is Privlaka's coat still isn't completely through," Heathcote said.
"But he has pleased me with his work and he can handle wet tracks, as we saw with his maiden win on a heavy nine track."
Privlaka is by Mossman who is the sire of Heathcote's stable stars Buffering and Hopfgarten.
Saturday's race features some of the most promising three-year-olds in Brisbane with the Matt Dunn-trained Dram Of Red aiming to maintain his unbeaten first-up record.
The Tony Gollan-trained Secret Saga is back after failing in Sydney and the speedy La Dolce Vita will be bidding to make it four wins from five career starts.
