The old firm of John Meagher and Steven King will be back together at Sandown to chase a Group Three win with Harada Bay.
King was indentured to Meagher in Melbourne during the late 1980s with the trainer providing then-apprentice with his first Group One win aboard Gamine in Adelaide.
After a training stint in Singapore, Meagher now trains in partnership with his sons Dan and Chris in Brisbane.
But with Eagle Farm out of action because of renovations, the team sent Harada Bay south in search of roomier tracks.
Harada Bay will be having his third start in Victoria this campaign when he runs in the Sandown Stakes and is a $21 chance with Good Project the $2.90 favourite.
The son of Haradasun ran a first-up second at Moonee Valley on October 2 before a narrow defeat in the Sale Cup on October 25.
Meagher had planned to run Harada Bay during Melbourne Cup week at Flemington but decided to save him for the Sandown meeting.
Stabled with Meagher's brother-in-law Pat Carey at Mornington, Harada Bay galloped at Sandown during the week and the trainer is expecting a good run from the six-time winner on Saturday.
"He's done well, he had a good gallop at Sandown on Tuesday, so he'll be competitive," Meagher said.
"Kingy will give him a good ride. He's ridden him well at his last couple, so I just hope he puts his head in front on the line.
"He's drawn awkwardly but Sandown will suit him.
"Those horses that storm home can do so at Sandown and Sandown Cup day, when they come back racing there, is usually pretty fair."
Meagher said Harada Bay would return to Brisbane following Saturday's race and have a short break.
He will be aimed at the Magic Millions Cup at the Gold Coast on January 9, a race he ran fifth in last year behind Spurtonic.
