Mujadale may be a year older but his trainer believes he is going as well as ever in his bid for back-to-back Ballarat Cup victories.

The Paul Jones-trained stayer carried 55kg to beat At First Sight and Fat Al when he led throughout in last year's 2200m Listed race.

Mujadale went into the 2014 Cup off a win in the Ararat Cup and finished third in that race this year on November 8.

As was the scenario last year, Mujadale will be going to the Ballarat Cup at the fifth run of his campaign.

"I think he's going as well as last year," the Stawell-based Jones said.

"His last start was really good and if he had won last time I would say his form would be better than last year."

Mujadale resumed with a fifth placing at Moonee Valley in September before finishing down the track behind the Lloyd Williams-owned Amralah later that month in Adelaide.

He didn't appear on the track again until the end of October, running sixth in the Horsham Cup before his Ararat Cup placing behind the Darren Weir-trained Something To Share.

Jones said Mujadale had a hiccup following his Adelaide trip but is back to his top.

"He probably should have won (at Ararat) if he had got into clear running in the straight," Jones said.

"If he could have got out at at the top of the straight when he wanted to it might have been different.

"He's back in form and it's all looking good."

Chris Waller has fellow eight-year-olds Junoob and Index Linked among the 29 nominations for the Ballarat Cup while Melbourne Cup-winning trainer Weir has five entries.

Weir, who won his home-town Cup with Just The Part in 2004, has nominated Akzar, Something To Share, Tilla Bell Rings, Our Voodoo Prince and Tooleybuc Kid.
