Waller pair head Ballarat Cup weights

Wednesday 18 November 2015, 6:54am

The Chris Waller-trained pair Junoob and Index Linked head the weights for the Ballarat Cup.

The $300,000 Listed race over 2200 metres is the highlight at Ballarat, the main Victorian meeting on Saturday.

The program also hosts Victoria's only race run in a clockwise direction, the $200,000 Magic Millions Clockwise Classic, an important lead-up race to the Magic Millions Two-Year-Old Classic on the Gold Coast early next year.

Junoob with 60kg has half a kilo more than Index Linked and the pair head 29 nominations for the Ballarat Cup that includes five horses from the stable of Melbourne Cup-winning trainer Darren Weir.

Weir is chasing a second hometown victory, 11 years after his only win with Just The Part.

Last year's winner Mujadale is also among nominations and is aiming to become the first back-to-back winner since Warri Symbol in the early 1980s.

Other highlights are the Magic Millions Three & Four-Year-Old Classic and the VOBIS Gold Eureka Stockade, both worth $100,000.
