Newcastle trainer Kris Lees will have his first oversees runner with Lucia Valentina receiving an invitation to the Hong Kong Cup.
Lucia Valentina will join fellow Australian Criterion at the International meeting on December 13.
"I took both Potential Star and Corporate James to Hong Kong for Dad (the late Max Lees), so I'm fully aware of what is involved," Lees said on his website.
"But it's a great honour to be invited to such a prestigious meeting, and I'm really looking forward to it."
A last-start winner of the Group Two Matriarch Stakes at Flemington on November 7, Lucia Valentina has been back at Lees' Newcastle stable for a week.
She will leave for Hong Kong on November 30 and Damien Oliver, who rode her to win the Matriarch, has been confirmed as her rider.
The Hong Kong Cup $HK25million ($A4.5 million) is the richest of the four feature international races at Sha Tin.
"It's a terrific opportunity to test the mare on the world stage," Lees said.
"It is over her best distance, and I'm sure she will be competitive.
"Obviously, even a placing in a race such as this would boost her value as a broodmare when she retires."
The David Hayes and Tom Dabernig-trained Criterion finished third in the 2014 Cup.
