Zahra and Childs in Ballarat suspensions

Saturday 21 November 2015, 6:50pm

Mark Zahra missed the four days of the Melbourne Cup carnival through suspension and has incurred another careless-riding ban on Ballarat Cup day.

Zahra pleaded guilty to a careless-riding charge aboard Lips Areios in Saturday's Sam Miranda Handicap and was suspended for 12 meetings.

Stewards ruled a shift from Zahra passing the winning post the first time fell into the mid-range of carelessness.

His ban begins after Sunday's Kilmore Cup meeting.

Apprentice Jordan Childs was also suspended for seven meetings for shifting in early in the race on eventual winner Show A Star in the IGA Liquor McKellar Mile.
