Michelle Payne to ride at Randwick

Wednesday 23 December 2015, 11:48am

Michelle Payne will add some star power to the Boxing Day meeting at Randwick after being declared as the rider for two horses trained by her brother Patrick.

The Melbourne Cup winner will partner Atalanta Miss in the McGrath Estate Agents Handicap and the classy Husson Eagle in the ATC Congratulates and Farewells Alan Thomas Handicap.

It will be the first time Payne has ridden in Sydney since her historic Melbourne Cup win on Prince Of Penzance.

She was a special guest of the Australian Turf Club at a Saturday meeting earlier this month but did not ride.

Both Patrick Payne-trained horses are eligible for the Magic Millions race day at the Gold Coast next month.

Atalanta Miss won the Adelaide Magic Millions 2YO Classic in May and will tackle Saturday's race first-up from a spell.

Husson Eagle, who finished fifth behind Brazen Beau in the 2014 Group One Coolmore Stud Stakes, has had one run this campaign finishing fifth in a Magic Millions race at Ballarat last month.
