All American 2YO wins again at Rosehill

Monday 23 November 2015, 9:37am

Darby Racing's sharp eye for an athletic yearling put a large group of owners into the winner's circle at Rosehill for the second time in three weeks, when Yankee Rose scored again in Saturday's $150,000 Golden Gift over 1100 metres.

The 2YO daughter of All American once again proved too strong for her male rivals, making up several lengths in spectacular fashion to overhaul Good Standing by a half-neck, with Julius Caesar third.

Apart from the thrill of two wins from two starts, her owners have reaped big financial returns on the $10,000 Darby Racing paid for Yankee Rose at the Inglis Classic Sale where she was offered by Widden Stud. Her prizemoney is already close to $160,000, including BOBS bonuses of $40,000 - sufficient to book a place in next year's $3.5 million Golden Slipper G1 on 19 March.

Her trainer David Vandyke said, "I’m still coming to grips with that performance and the fact that we have a runner in the Golden Slipper."

"I know this filly will get over further – the Champagne Stakes is actually the race I had tagged for her long term but to see her finish like that over 1100 (metres), she’s quality.

"She’s very exciting and the thing she has got going for her is she’s tough, real tough."

Yankee Rose, physically very typical of All American's stock, is the fourth foal and third winner out of Condesaar (by Xaar), a half-sister to New Zealand Derby G1 winner Redoute's Dancer.

All American has six lots catalogued for January's Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale including Arrowfield's colt from Catalina Winemixer (by Stratum), making him a three-quarter brother to Yankee Rose.
