NSW country galloper Hide The Moon overcame a rough trip to Ipswich on Wednesday before racing himself into contention for the Cannonball series final.

Hide The Moon ($11) outpaced a handy field in the final heat of the series, which is designed to find the fastest restricted-class 800m horse.

The $30,000 Cannonball final is at Kilcoy on December 6 and will carry a $5000 bonus for any horse which can break 44 seconds for the 800m.

Trainer Paddy Cunningham said Hide The Moon, who is trained at Glen Innes in the NSW New England region, took an extra hour to get to Ipswich after the float he was travelling on was caught in the backwash of a road accident.

"We had the horses out on the side of the road waiting to get through," Cunningham said.

"He is a horse that likes the inside barrier and he showed that again today.

"Everyone else is heading to the Cannonball final at Kilcoy so I suppose we will head there as well."

Hide The Moon's job was made easier when the heavily-backed favourite Sassy Tycoon was withdrawn at the barrier.

A change of tactics helped jockey Tegan Harrison clock up another win for trainer Tony Gollan aboard Shipwrecked ($3.20 fav) in the XXXX Good As Gold Hcp (1350m).

"Shipwrecked had been getting into trouble when ridden back in the field so from the good barrier with a light weight we elected to lead. It paid off," Gollan said.

Earlier in the day jockey Jason Taylor proved a good judge to his own detriment when favourite All Natural ($3.40) took out the Schweppervesence Maiden (1350m).

Taylor, who rode third placed Stormy Leo, was aboard All Natural at his previous start and afterwards told trainer Darren Bell the gelding was a certainty when it next raced.

"Jason was spot-on but unfortunately for him, All Natural got 59 kilograms so we claimed three kilograms with Tiffani Brooker," Bell said.
