Pfieffer-trained trio on song for Randwick

A horse at the perfect point of its campaign and two stablemates improving into their preparations could provide a memorable afternoon for David Pfieffer at Randwick on Saturday.

The Warwick Farm trainer is buoyant about the chances of his trio of runners, despite two of them assessed at double-figure odds.

Inside Job is the most highly fancied as a $9 chance for The Swim Between The Flags Handicap (1000m) as he looks to enhance an already sharp second-up record.

Fourth on soft ground when he resumed last month, Inside Job has a proven liking for Saturday's track and distance.

"He wasn't comfortable on the wet track last start but he's got a good second-up record and a good barrier," Pfieffer said.

Diamondsinthenight and Lord Leofric will also represent the stable and are $14 chances for their respective races.

Pfieffer was happy to see Diamondsinthenight hit the line late over 1500m last start and said the distance rise to 2000m was ideal.

"He ran fourth in the Canberra Cup last preparation which is pretty good form for a race like this," he said.

Lord Leofric is the most lightly raced of Pfieffer's trio and holds the most promise.

He was rewarded for his climb through the winter grades with a start in the Group Two Missile Stakes in August, finishing sixth, and Pfieffer was satisfied with his midfield effort on return at Rosehill two weeks ago.

"I think he's coming of age and he looks like he just wants that bit more ground now," Pfieffer said.

"Again, he's got a nice gate and he should be able to get into a good position without having to be used up too much."
