The prospect of a softer track gives Anna Lizzie a chance to make a successful step back in distance to win the Listed Just Now Quality at Doomben.
Anna Lizzie has been campaigning as a middle-distance horse and last raced when sixth behind Lock's Legend at Doomben over 2030m on October 10.
She had been a good second to the same horse over 2200m at her previous start.
Anna Lizzie's six wins have been at distances from 1350m to 1600m and trainer Dan Bougoure is confident she is ready to run a big race on Saturday.
Bougoure said Anna Lizzie was a mare who needed the sting out of the track and pace on in her races.
"Her best races have been on tracks rated in the five to six range. There has been rain around and hopefully we will get a softer track on Saturday."
"She has a few joint problems which we can manage but rock-hard tracks don't suit her," Bougoure said.
He said he wasn't worried about Anna Lizzie coming back in distance as she raced well fresh.
"Last time in she ran second to the in-form Steel Zip when she was resuming. Anna Lizzie really does need a solid pace no matter what the distance.
"But even the middle-distance races in Brisbane have usually been a walk and sprint home. There should be pace on Saturday and that will suit us," Bougoure said.
Anna Lizzie is being aimed at the $1 million Magic Millions Cup on January 9.
"I will also enter her for the fillies and mares race in case she can't make the Cup field," he Bougoure said.
