Even if Michelle Payne had really wanted to ride at Randwick, she would not have had time.
The Melbourne-Cup winning jockey spent a full Saturday afternoon meeting almost everyone on course.
Accompanied by her brother Stevie, the strapper of Cup winner Prince Of Penzance, Payne posed happily for photographs with the public who flocked to the pair.
Since she became the first woman to ride the winner of the Melbourne Cup last month, Payne has been busier than she imagined.
"I knew it would be big, but I couldn't have dreamed of just how big," Payne said.
"It's great to be able to meet so many people and do so many different things."
Criticism of Sydney trainers and officials for not making sure she rode on the day, didn't faze Payne.
"I didn't expect to get rides," she said.
"I'm just pleased to come up here and get to meet so many people."
The Australian Turf Club budgeted for a crowd of 7000 for the non-feature meeting with 10,112 turning up with the added attraction of the Paynes.
