Veteran Melbourne jockey Darren Gauci is confident he will pass a concussion test to ride on the second day of the State of Origin jockeys' series at Doomben on Saturday.
Gauci was stood down from riding when struck in the face by his mount behind the barriers in Adelaide last Saturday.
He needs a doctor's certificate before he is allowed to ride.
"He has rides at Moonee Valley on Friday night as well but Darren felt he would have no problems which is great news," a Racing Queensland spokesman said.
Gauci, whose best Brisbane win was the 2001 Group One Stradbroke on Crawl, is drawn to ride Mr Jet Set and Hi Son in the two heats on Saturday.
Glen Boss has agreed to ride for an extra day in the series after Jim Byrne decided not to appeal a suspension.
Byrne was suspended at Doomben last Friday for 10 days, starting after Saturday's racing.
He was scheduled to be the Queensland representative in the series on December 19 but Boss will now extend his commitment to cover that day.
After the first day of the series Queensland is on 10 points, New Zealand on six points, with NSW and Victoria on four points.
