Former NSW country filly Stick With Me gets the chance to live up to her trainer's opinion of her ability when she returns to stakes class at Doomben.
Stick With Me, an eye-catching winner of her two starts since returning from a spell, runs in Saturday's Listed Gold Edition Plate (1200m).
Formerly trained by Brett Cavanough at Albury, Stick With Me won a maiden race at Wagga before being transferred to Chris Munce at Eagle Farm.
Munce said Stick With Me trialled so well for him he decided to run her in the Listed Hampden Stakes and Lancaster Stakes during the winter.
"She ran sixth in both of them at huge odds. We put her away to mature a bit and she won a trial impressively when we got her back in October," Munce said.
"Since then she has won twice at the Sunshine Coast and they both have been big runs."
He said Stick With Me faced a big class rise.
"She might be tiny but she is all guts. I don't think she will be out of place and we want to get black type for her as a future broodmare," Munce said.
He acknowledges stablemate Snow Fields faces a tough task in the Listed Calaway Gal Stakes (1050m) for two-year-olds.
A Northern Meteor filly, Snow Fields will be having her first start but takes on some experienced youngsters.
"She is drawn OK but it is a very strong race with a few that have won in impressive style," Munce said.
