Greyt Start chases Magic Millions berth

Thursday 17 December 2015, 11:41am

Toowoomba filly Greyt Start will have to overcome a wide barrier and a strong field to confirm a Magic Millions berth.

Greyt Start earned $32,000 for her dominant win in the first two-year-old race of the season on her home track in September but that is unlikely to be enough to make the field for the 2YO Classic on January 9 at the Gold Coast.

She has pleased trainer Michael Nolan since she came back into the stable and the Hamilton Hotel Handicap (1100m) at Doomben on Saturday will be her chance to cement a Magic Millions start in the $2 million.

However, Nolan's confidence was dented when Greyt Start drew barrier 11 in a field on 12.

"At this stage she will go around on Saturday and have to run one, two or three for us to press on to the Millions," Nolan said.

"If she can't be top three, even from this barrier, there isn't much point in chasing the big race. There are plenty of other races around for her."
