One thing trainer Ross Pecora knows about Georgie's Luce is she will not be fazed by forecast high temperatures at Flemington.
Racing Victoria has enacted its hot weather policy for racing at Flemington with a top temperature of 39 degrees expected at mid-afternoon on Saturday.
The meeting has been brought forward to start at 10.30am with the last of nine races scheduled for 2.45pm.
Georgie's Luce is aiming for a hat-trick after victories at Cranbourne and Benalla and will line-up in the Beachside Handicap .
The filly handled the hot conditions when successful at Benalla when faced with a 39-degree day.
"It's not concerning me on Saturday," Pecora said.
"It did concern me up at Benalla but she came through it alright so it should be OK on Saturday.
"It's a stronger race but she's against her own class and her own sex so she's got some sort of chance."
Georgie's Luce was given a few days off after her Benalla victory and has impressed Pecora and in-form jockey Brian Higgins with her recent gallops on the training track.
Pecora said Georgie's Luce had above-average ability but wasn't getting too far ahead with plans.
He said Saturday's race will guide him as to whether she might have one more start before a break and a potential autumn campaign.
"There's three out of the mare that have been city-placed or city winners," Pecora said.
Pecora, who runs a cheese business and trades at the local Dandenong market, breeds his own stock and he says looking after his band of horses has turned from a hobby into a job.
He said he loved his day-to-day involvement that includes five racing stock and some broodmares.
"I don't do it for the money, I do it for the passion," he said.
Unfortunately he's had to replenish his broodmare band after Tina's Way, the mother of Georgie's Luce, had to be put down following a paddock accident last year.
But he has a ready-made replacement, a half-sister to Georgie's Luce that didn't make it to the racetrack and was sent to stud this year.
